SOUP STE. MARIE THIS FRIDAY

0

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The second ever Soup Ste. Marie event will take place on March 11 at 180 Projects, an independent gallery located on 180 Gore Street.

Soup Ste. Marie is an innovative fundraising opportunity that makes small grants available to community minded projects through community meals.

The theme of the second event will be “social entrepreneurship”.

Social Entrepreneurship is the process of pursuing innovative solutions to address social, environmental and economic problems.

Soup Ste. Marie acts also as a platform from which the community can generate ideas and discussion about what is happening in the city.

Further, it gives Partisoupants (or presenters) an opportunity to network with potential collaborators and to raise awareness about the needs and resources that help make community projects a reality.

How it works:

  • $10 entrance fee gets you a bowl of soup and a vote on a project.  BYOB (bring your own bowl). Community “Partisoupants” showcase their projects through a 5-minute presentation and a 5-minute Q&A.
  • Attendees get to listen to presentations, engage with Partisoupants and cast their vote to grant the proceeds to the most inspiring project, while enjoying local soup prepared by Gore St. Café & Café Natura.
  • No one but the winning presenter makes money from these events. However, this is a unique opportunity for partisoupating projects to showcase their work and network with attendees.

This upcoming Soup Ste. Marie event has become a reality through the creative efforts of local youth, catalyzed by NORDIK Institute, Social Entrepreneurship Evolution (SEE), Urban Indigenous Youth for Change (UIYFC), YouLaunch and 180 Projects.

Where: 180 Projects, 180 Gore Street, Sault Ste. Marie

When: Friday, March 11 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 each available for cash purchase at the door or at Gore St. Café, Shabby Motley Handcraft and Café Natura, or online here.
