Sault Ste. Marie Climate Change Survey

2

Sault Ste. Marie, ON –– On March 3, 2016, the Prime Minister along with Premiers met in Vancouver to outline the principles that will guide Canada towards sustainable and clean economic growth, building on the momentum generated at the COP21 talks in Paris on climate change. On April 22, the federal government, along with the provinces and territories announced an open discussion period aimed at working with communities and individuals to help shape Canada’s future approach to climate change. This period of consultation comes ahead of the release of a comprehensive National Climate Strategy in the fall of 2016. This federal climate strategy will compliment provincial Climate Change Action Plans such as Ontario’s that was released on June 8, which outlines a clear strategy for Ontario to curb its greenhouse gas emissions and transition into a low-carbon economy.

From increased incidences of wildfires and flooding to uncharacteristic seasonal warming and cooling to increased risk of disease brought by insects and to increased instability of energy supplies, Sault Ste. Marie has already begun to feel the effects of climate change. Now is the time to act in order to create a sustainable, more resilient Sault Ste. Marie.

To better understand what the effects of climate change mean for local residents and businesses, and identify important solutions, the CRANE Institute for Sustainability is engaging residents and businesses of Sault Ste. Marie through a climate change survey.  This survey will give Sault Ste. Marie residents and businesses a chance to share their views on this very important topic.

  2. That all encompassing catch phrase “climate change”, man driven global warming just wasn’t working out with the temperature flat line getting in the way, garbage computer models and catastrophic predictions not happening so a new slogan was needed to keep the money grabbing scam going.
