Provincial Referendum Seeks to Increase Funding to Ontario Hospitals

0

What are we doing?

  • Holding a cross-province, volunteer-led referendum.
  • We’ll have voting stations around the community staffed by volunteers. We’ll also be holding workplace votes and advance voting stations.
  • We will be releasing the full list of voting stations to the media within the next few weeks.

What is a referendum and why is it important?

  • It’s a province-wide vote, led by volunteers in communities across Ontario.

The goal is to get as many votes as possible in order to get the Wynne government to listen to regular Ontarians who need to see increased Provincial Government funding so that our hospitals can have enough workers who deal directly with patients and sufficient services to allow hospitals to provide quality health care to meet community needs. We need to be at least average in Canada.

THE DATE OF THE VOTE: SATURDAY MAY 28.

 How can people help?

People can get in touch with the Sault and Area Health Coalition to volunteer: Margo Dale, 705 254 2885, margodale@shaw.ca

We’ll need lots of volunteers! There is a lot that people can do to help, including: distributing leaflets in their neighbourhood; volunteering at a voting station for an hour or two at the advanced polls or on May 28th; helping to phone volunteers; holding a vote in their workplace; and many more.

*Please distribute the information. There is power in numbers. Your help in spreading

information about this Town Hall meeting is essential and greatly appreciated.

When we join together, each person’s voice does make a difference.

In recent weeks, because the citizens of Ontario banded together to voice their disapproval of the almost doubling of the deductible on Seniors’ medications, the Provincial Government dropped the increase.
