February 29, 2016: Sault Ste. Marie, ON — A new business in Sault Ste. Marie is dedicated to bringing a personal touch to your pharmaceutical needs: Apothecarium Rasaiah’s Pharmacy is now open at 341 Trunk Road. This locally owned and operated, independent family pharmacy is the long awaited dream of owner Alistair Rasaiah, a local, Canadian trained pharmacist.
Since graduating with Great Distinction from the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy program at the University of Saskatchewan, Alistair has worked in many roles, including as manager and owner, but the corporate settings in which he was employed hindered his ability to connect with and spend enough time with customers; so, he began to work to fulfil his dream of opening his own pharmacy.
Apothecarium Rasaiah’s Pharmacy is a tribute to Alistair’s “decidedly un-corporate” business views. As the owner of Apothecarium, he can embrace his customer-focused approach and really get to know each patient’s individual needs. He doesn’t see his patients as just nameless clients, but as neighbours and members of the same community he and his family are a part of.
Apothecarium offers many services including medication reviews, to assess all medications a patient is taking and analyze how they may be interacting; compliance packaging (blister packs), to make remembering your medication a little easier; and non-sterile compounding, the art and science of preparing personalized medications for clients, which Alistair has been specially trained in.
As a locally owned and independent pharmacy, Apothecarium is also proud to be able to offer Telus Pharma Space, an online platform to learn about and renew your own and your loved ones’ prescriptions from your computer or smartphone. Plus, they stock plenty of fun and unusual products, ranging from educational toys to British food.
