Break-Up of City and Fire Chief Was Mutual

The City of Sault Ste. Marie has pointed out that my assertion that fire chief Mike Figliola was fired is factually incorrect.
Instead, Tessa Vecchio of Corporate Communications informed me in an email, the correct wording should have been that the city and Figliola have ended their employment relationship.
I have no problem in making the change.
I was told initially by a source that Figliola had been fired and in confirming his departure with another source, with the firing firm in my mind and wanting to have Northern Hoot be the first to get the news out, I neglected to probe as to whether it was a firing or a mutual separation.
The actual news release issued by the city later Tuesday morning said;
The City of Sault Ste. Marie and Fire Chief Mike Figliola have ended their employment relationship effective Monday, May 8, 2017.
Recruitment for a new Fire Chief is underway. In the meantime, Deputy Chief Paul Milosevich will serve in the role in an interim capacity while continuing to oversee Fire Education, Prevention and Emergency Management. It is intended that there will be no disruption to the delivery of City services during the transition.
