Press Release
Canadian Taxpayers On The Hook for Tens of Millions
August 5, 2015
Sault Ste. Marie – The early call of this Federal Election by Prime Minister Harper and the Conservative government will cost Canadian taxpayers tens of millions of dollars more. The main beneficiaries of this early call will be the Prime Minister and his candidates, including Bryan Hayes.
While the economy of Canada is stagnant and in what many are referring to as a recession, the Prime Minister is providing almost 27 million dollars to the Conservative Party war chest.
“By changing the election law the Conservatives will receive 50 cents for every dollar spent. This will mean 27 million dollars provided directly from the Canadian taxpayer, said Terry Sheehan, Liberal Candidate for Sault Ste. Marie.
Sheehan goes on to say “While people across our country and the Sault Ste. Marie area are struggling with the cost of living and in their attempts to find good, meaningful employment, Mr. Harper and Mr. Hayes choose a campaign in which they used their majority in the House of Commons to bend the rules for nothing other than their selfish benefit. Our community and our country deserve much better than this.”
This current election will be the most costly in the history of our country, costing Canadians 500 million dollars. The Liberal Party of Canada is proposing the real change that the country needs. For more information on this plan visit www.liberal.ca
