Steven Blaney makes me f***ing sick!
This Conservative leadership candidate is an arrogant, paternalistic a**hole. In a recent interview, on CBC’s “Power Politics”, Blaney indicated that the Indian reserves are the core of the problem regarding Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women. It is not the reserve that is the problem, it is the people who have murdered these women. Do not blame the victims.
Helen Betty Osbourne was not murdered because of the reserve, nor was it the “reserve’s” fault that it took 16 years for her murderers to come to trial. (Her murderers were not part of the reserve.)
The Indigenous women murdered by the BC pig farmer were not murdered because of the “reserve”. (The pig farmer was not part of the reserve.)
The infamous police’s Starlight tours that led to the deaths of aboriginals in Saskatoon were not killed because of the “reserve”. (The Saskatoon police were not part of the reserve.)
Blaney’s blatant arrogance to state, “DISMANTLE RESERVES BECA– — USE I FEEL THAT THIS IS HELPING FIRST NATIONS TO MOVE FORWARD AND BE FULL CANADIANS. I WANT THEM TO OWN A HO– — USE.”
His feelings are misguided, repugnant and simply abhorred!
“Be full Canadians” -unsubstantiated drivel!
“I want them to own a house” -ignorant idiot!
Did Blaney miss the whole apology that his leader, Steven Harper, gave in the House of Commons? Did Blaney also miss the Truth and Reconciliation Commission? Did Blaney miss the residential school hearings and lawsuit? He said he was an MP for 10 years.
How in the hell did the atrocities of torture, sexual abuse, the experimentation, and the murders that were done under the control of the government and churches become a “reserve” problem?
Did he also miss the systemic racism attributed to the police in Val-Dor Quebec? Not one single charge was laid from the 21 complaints by women and the 7 complaints made by men.
Blaming the Indians for the Indian problem. What a concept? The continual erosion of the assets of First Nations and then to tell them “own a house”. Indians are the ultimate survivalists. Simply put, the government has betrayed us, continues to betray us, and Blaney continues this unsubstantiated rant. This variation of the government’s “White Paper” to assimilate “Indians” is a way to correct/ignore the “Indian problem” is simply, a stupid perspective. Don’t they get it? We are not going away!
Making the Indians real Canadians. I’m so pissed that I cannot continue this rant.
The white god mentality is alive and well.
Belaney should take the new Citizenship Oath so that he can swear to honour Treaties with Indigenous peoples. Perhaps all politicians, government bureaucrats should take the oath to honour Treaties.
I bet he wants us to say thank you!!!
